From 2010-2018 Nyack resident Lisa Snyder created and ran a Canine Adventure business called Dog Day Afternoon
The premise was to have a dog "be who they are" by running free with the PAC (Playful Active Canines) in local parklands, private yards, and giant fields so that they could experience maximum joy, exercise, and socialization. This resulted in happier, more fulfilled dogs.
These regular "Adventures" completely satisfied dogs, giving them something to look forward to and the ability to make friends. They were literally so well exercised that their lives were forever changed.
Lisa was also changed. Those eight years in the woods with dogs were extremely enlightening for her and resulted in this first and brand new book, "Noses in the Wind: How to create the Best Life For Your Dog & make a Forever Home."
It is a short and engaging read that can help both new and seasoned dog owners deliver a more adventurous and full-bodied life to their fur family member(s), with topics such as food and boarding to adoption and dealing with the unimaginable & massive grief that is experienced when a dog dies. Most important, though, is to truly understand a dog's behavior, to never misinterpret it, and wrongly decide to get rid of your dog, hence lowering the shelter population. Contributing factors that uproot a dog's life and send them "BACK" are entirely preventable, and we must strive to keep dogs home.
A FOREVER HOME, if you will, and NOSES IN THE WIND packs a strong punch.
